What are Claude skills?

How do I install a skill in Claude Code?

Copy the skill folder to .claude/skills/<name>/SKILL.md in your project, or ~/.claude/skills/<name>/SKILL.md for every project. Each skill page here has a one-line install command that does this for you.

How do I use a skill once it is installed?

Type /name at the start of a message, or describe the task and Claude Code loads the skill when its description matches. Skills also work in Claude.ai and the Claude API through the same SKILL.md format.

What does "proven" mean?

A proven skill was run through Claude twice on a fixed brief, once without the skill and once with it, on the same model. Both results are live pages, and the brief, model and skill commit are recorded so anyone can repeat the comparison.

Are these Claude skills free?
