001/ How a proof works

One prompt, two runs, side by side.

Star counts tell you a skill is popular. A proof tells you what it actually changes, on a task like yours.

Step 1

Same prompt

Each proof starts with one everyday request, written once and never changed between runs.

“Build a pricing page for a note-taking app with Free, Plus and Team plans.”
Step 2

Two runs

Claude builds it twice with the same model and settings: once on its own, once with the skill loaded.

Side by side

Both results are live pages. Drag the divider, click around, and judge the difference yourself.

003/ Why proofs

Popular isn’t the same as useful.

Most directories rank skills by stars or installs. Those numbers say who found it, not what it does.

Star counts

What most lists rank by

  • Shows how popular the repo is
  • Counts the whole repo, not the skill
  • Doesn’t show the output
  • Can’t be compared on your task

Install counts

Better, still indirect

  • Counts the skill itself
  • Shows what people try
  • Doesn’t show the output
  • Can’t be repeated

A proof

What Use This Skill adds

  • Shows the real output, live
  • Compares with and without
  • Records model, settings and version
  • Can be run again by anyone

005/ Questions

Good to know.

01What is an agent skill?

A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file that teaches a coding agent how to do one kind of job well, such as designing a page or writing tests. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents load them when the task calls for it.

02How is a proof made?

We give Claude one fixed prompt twice, with the same model and settings. The first run has no skill. The second run has the skill loaded. Both results are saved as live pages, and the model, settings and the skill's exact version are recorded next to them.

03Can a proof be repeated?

Yes. Because the prompt, model and skill commit are all recorded, anyone can run the same comparison again. We re-run proofs when a skill changes.

04Is the directory free?

Yes. Searching, browsing and installing every skill is free, and a few proofs are free to view. Pro unlocks the full set of proofs and the source of each demo page.

05Who owns the skills?

Their authors do. We list each skill with a link to its source repository and only show a skill's full text when its license allows it.

06How do I install a skill?

Every listing has a one-line install command that copies the skill folder into your project's .claude/skills directory. You can also open the source on GitHub and copy it yourself.

Install the skill that earns its place.

Search the directory, check the proof, copy one line.
