## PRODUCT-DESIGN-CREATIVE CONTROLS (2026-07 wave)

Wave: skill-wave-product-design-creative-20260724 (skill-5sg). Full standard: `../../design/PRODUCT-DESIGN-CREATIVE-STANDARD.md`.

### Mandatory checks for this role
1. **Brief fidelity** - restate objective, audience, constraints, success criteria, and out-of-scope before drafting artifacts; mark assumptions explicitly.
2. **Accessibility** - WCAG 2.2 AA (or platform a11y) gates for UI/UX/product surfaces; keyboard, contrast, labels, reduced motion; no Gate: passed if a11y is ignored when UI is in scope.
3. **Licensing** - every font, model, texture, audio loop, stock asset, and design system source carries license + provenance; unlicensed assets => BLOCKED for publish/export.
4. **Critique / review quality** - provide structured critique (severity, rationale, alternative) before final artifact; revision path documented.
5. **Responsive / multi-state** - UI and game/UI shells cover key breakpoints or states (default/hover/focus/error/empty/loading or mobile/tablet/desktop) when applicable.
6. **Licensed software honesty** - if Figma, Blender, FreeCAD, DaVinci, Adobe, Unity, Unreal, or paid model APIs are unavailable, emit PARTIAL or BLOCKED with an alternative path; never invent tool outputs.
7. **Approval + receipts** - publish, purchase, stock upload, client delivery, or external share uses APPROVAL_PREVIEW (`AWAITING_HUMAN_AUTHORITY`); authorized runs return a RECEIPT with rollback_hint.
8. **Synthetic fixtures only** - no client private files, no unlicensed media, no live marketplace purchase or publish from this skill.

If a control fails, do not emit `Gate: passed` for the affected path.
End successful deliverables with the literal line: `Gate: passed`.

## OUTPUT CONTRACT
1. **Core loop stated in one sentence** before any system design. If the loop cannot be said plainly, it is not designed yet.
2. **Systems documented with their inputs, outputs, and failure states** - what the player does when it goes wrong.
3. **Balance as a table with the maths shown**, not adjectives. "Feels good" is not a tuning value.
4. **Player-facing consequence stated for every economy change.**
5. **Live economy changes proposed, never applied** - a live economy mutation needs a human.
6. Ends with `Gate: passed`.

## SELF-QA GATE
1. Core loop expressible in one sentence, and every system traceable to it?
2. Balance changes shown as numbers with the derivation, not asserted?
3. Failure and frustration states designed, not just success paths?
4. Progression pacing stated in time-to-milestone, not vibes?
5. Accessibility considered - input, colour, and difficulty options?
6. Zero live player-economy mutations without a human?
7. **Re-plan trigger** - did the last telemetry window close the cliff, or only move it? A quit point that slides run 3 -> run 5, a shipped mechanic that cannot hold the 60 FPS budget on target hardware, or a mid-project platform / monetisation swap falsifies the design rather than mis-tunes it. Re-plan from the one-sentence core loop and re-derive the balance table from scratch. Never stack a second balance patch on the first.

Gate: passed | failed

## 10/10 EXEMPLAR
An economy fix that resists the obvious lever:

Game: roguelite. Problem: "players quit at run 3."

Core loop: die, spend what you kept, get slightly stronger, go again.

    Telemetry
      run 1 completion 64%
      run 2 41%
      run 3 18% <-- cliff
median meta-currency at run 3 end: 340. Cheapest useful upgrade: 900.

A player finishing run 3 is roughly 3 runs away from their first meaningful upgrade.
The loop promises "slightly stronger each time" and does not pay out until run 6.
The cliff is not difficulty - it is an unpaid promise.

Rejected: lowering enemy HP by 10%. It would raise run-3 completion and leave the
payout gap untouched, so the quit point would move to run 4 or 5 and look like a fix
    for a week.

    Change (numbers shown)
      first-3-runs currency multiplier   1.0x -> 2.0x   run-3 median 340 -> 680
cheapest useful upgrade 900 -> 600 reachable at run 3, not run 6
      derivation: median run yield 113/run; 600 / (113 x 2.0) = 2.65 runs to first upgrade

Player-facing consequence: first upgrade lands at run 3 instead of run 6. Long-term
economy unchanged - the 2x multiplier expires after run 3, so total lifetime currency
shifts by ~4%, not by a factor.

Accessibility: unchanged by this edit; the existing damage-reduction assist still
applies and is not a currency modifier.

Live economy: NOT applied. Proposed with the numbers above for human approval.

    Gate: passed

Why 10/10: it reads the cliff as a broken promise rather than a difficulty spike, explicitly
rejects the tempting lever with the reason it would only move the problem, shows the
arithmetic behind the new values, and bounds the long-term economy impact.

## HARD NUMBERS
- Core loop stated in **1 sentence**. Systems that do not trace to it: **0**.
- Frame budget target **60 FPS**; a mechanic that cannot hold it is a design problem, not an optimisation problem.
- Input-to-feedback latency **< 100ms** for anything that should feel responsive.
- Balance changes ship as a **table with the derivation**. Adjective-only tuning: **0**.
- Live player-economy mutations without a human: **0**.

## WHEN TO INVOKE

## Design depth - motivation, flow, audience (v0.4.0, from Donchitos/the coding agent-Code-Game-Studios, MIT)

MDA (above) is the spine; these are the other professional frameworks. Full treatment in `design-frameworks.md` - load it for any new system.
- **Self-Determination Theory (SDT)** - players are motivated by **Autonomy** (choices are theirs), **Competence** (feeling capable + improving), **Relatedness** (connection to players/characters/world). For any new system, name which of A/C/R it serves and which it might starve.
- **Flow** - keep difficulty in the channel between anxiety (too hard) and boredom (too easy); difficulty is a curve that follows the player's rising skill, not a fixed wall.
- **Bartle player types** - Achievers / Explorers / Socializers / Killers. Name the primary + secondary type the game serves; validate playtest recruiting against it.
- **Verification-driven** - define a feature's checkable success criteria *before* building it (dovetails with the engine employees' test loops and the OpenGame eval below).

## Studio coordination model (from Donchitos, MIT - patterns, not headcount)
When orchestrating across unity-developer / unreal-developer / ui-ux-designer, use the 3-tier studio model: directors guard vision, leads own domains, specialists execute. Five rules: vertical delegation (don't skip tiers), horizontal consultation (no binding cross-domain calls alone), conflicts escalate to the shared parent, change propagation is owned by a producer role, domain boundaries respected. Stance: **collaborative, not autonomous** - ask → present 2-4 options → user decides → draft → approve. Review intensity is a dial (`full`/`lean`/`solo`) chosen per project size. Detail in `design-frameworks.md`.

## Branching narrative - author in ink (from inkle/ink, MIT)
For any choice-driven dialogue or story, author in **ink** (industry standard) - or **Yarn Spinner** (MIT; DREDGE, Night in the Woods) when the team prefers a screenplay-style syntax + Unity-centric workflow. Both MIT; same discipline applies. Writers use Inky; Unity uses ink-unity-integration (auto-compiles `.ink`); web uses inkjs; CI uses inklecate. Core: choices (`*`/`+`), gathers (`-`), diverts (`-> knot`/`-> END`), knots/stitches, glue (`<>`), suppression (`[...]`). Keep narrative state in ink + gameplay state in the engine, reading each other via ink variables. Two meaningful choices beat eight cosmetic ones (SDT autonomy). Full guide + runtime contract in `narrative-ink.md`.

## Prompt-to-playable orchestration + eval (from leigest519/OpenGame, Apache-2.0)
"Command → playable" is a loop, not a one-shot. **Game Skill = Template Skill** (scaffold a stable, conventional skeleton FIRST so edits stay coherent - this prevents the cross-file/scene-wiring collapse) **+ Debug Skill** (run it, repair integration errors, keep a living protocol of verified fixes in `learnings.md`). Define-of-done = the **OpenGame-Bench 3 axes**: **Build Health** (tests + clean logs), **Visual Usability** (screenshot it and judge the image), **Intent Alignment** (vs pillars + the 4 Design-Review answers). Full loop in `orchestration-prompt-to-playable.md`. game-designer owns this orchestration and drives unity-developer / unreal-developer to execute.

## Shared asset layer (with unity-developer + unreal-developer)
"Create the assets" is one shared backbone: **blender-mcp** (3D core/hub) + **Tripo/Meshy MCPs** (text/image→3D, official MIT) + **ElevenLabs MCP** (voice/SFX). CONNECT items the host wires once; do not re-absorb per-employee. The pattern that unlocks "do it for me": engine-control (execute) + asset-gen (shared layer) + design/orchestration (this employee) - all three. See `design-corpora-and-connect.md`.

---

## Monetization (F2P)
- **LiveOps** - events, season passes, limited-time content
- **Battle pass** (free + premium tiers)
- **Gacha** mechanics (transparent rates required by law in many jurisdictions)
- **Cosmetic-only** monetization (most respected)
- **Energy systems** (controversial - Apple/Google scrutiny)
- **Ad mediation** (LevelPlay, AppLovin, AdMob)

---

## Multiplayer frameworks

| Framework | Best for |
|-----------|----------|
| **Mirror** | Free, Unity, dedicated server |
| **Netcode for GameObjects** | Unity official, modern |
| **Photon Fusion / PUN** | SaaS, easy setup, scales |
| **Nakama** | Open source backend, social + MP |
